The factories of GRASSIN and SAINT-SAUVEUR, established in Arras (France), were specialized in casting of iron and small art ironwork. From 1840 onwards until deep in the twenties, the garden seats and furniture were quite innovative and at the same time very strong for their era. The seats were produced by semi- circular iron bars (much stronger than flat iron). Joining together was effected by riveting.
